Steve's Story

Steve Linton is a seasoned personal injury attorney in Utah with over two decades of experience at The Advocates (formerly Driggs, Bills & Day). Throughout his career, Steve has successfully helped accident victims secure fair compensation for their injuries. Prior to joining The Advocates, Steve honed his skills for five years at a well-regarded insurance defense firm in Salt Lake City, representing insurance companies and their clients in various cases, including auto accidents, product liability, construction, and mass torts. This experience provided him with invaluable insights into how insurers assess and defend claims, knowledge he now leverages to achieve favorable outcomes for his clients.

Steve has successfully recovered millions of dollars for thousands of injured clients through settlements, mediations, arbitrations, litigation and bench and jury trials. His diverse caseload includes motorcycle accidents, severe auto collisions, wrongful death claims, dog bites, eye injuries, amputations, injuries requiring reconstructive surgery, and cases involving long-term deformities or disabilities. Steve expertly represents clients against individuals, insurance companies, corporate defendants, and other parties responsible for injuries due to negligence or recklessness.

Steve’s proficiency extends to contracting, communicating, litigating, and leading mediations in numerous multi-million-dollar product liability cases. He played a pivotal role in the firm’s national litigation against drug manufacturers in the Phen-Fen, VIOXX, and Yaz/Yasmin cases, collaborating with top trial lawyers nationwide in these complex mass tort matters. Furthermore, Steve expertly navigates coverage disputes and other challenging liability issues, utilizing his comprehensive experience from both sides of injury litigation.

In addition to his personal injury practice, Steve is recognized as a leader in legal technology by both his peers and the legal technology community. Over the years, his expertise has been invaluable to numerous companies, including a two-year tenure on the advisory board for a prominent multi-million-dollar legal technology company with national and international reach. He has also provided consultancy services to local and national law firms to enhance their case management systems, work processes, and client communication tools. By integrating his extensive legal knowledge with advanced technology, Steve consistently achieves faster and more efficient results for his clients and helps other lawyers improve their efficiency. Additionally, Steve has presented continuing legal education seminars on these topics, further establishing his expertise in the field.

Steve has worked with clients from diverse backgrounds and from all over the world, especially Latin America.  He is fluent in Spanish, thus enabling him to provide exceptional service to a broader clientele.  Outside the office, Steve enjoys spending quality time with his wife and children, traveling, cooking (particularly Italian and Mexican cuisine) and exploring new restaurants. Steve loves college sports, especially BYU football, and sometimes even cheers on his other alma mater (as long as they are not playing each other).

A recent client, whose family member was tragically killed in an auto-pedestrian accident, shared:

“I cannot say enough good about Steve Linton and his staff. He treated us like we were his own family and did everything in his power to bring comfort and confidence to our family during a difficult time. Thank you again, Steve for all that you and your team have done! I hope you know how much you are appreciated!”
