Neck Pain and Chiropractic

Neck pain is a common symptom experienced by most of us, whether we have had an accident in Utah or not. Most neck pain begins with some kind of trauma, but sometimes the origin is difficult to identify.

With all neck pain-no matter what the cause-the pain itself tells us that there is some kind of problem in the functioning of the different parts of the spine. These type of accidents and injuries thrive with chiropractic treatments after an accident in Utah.

Chiropractic training teaches that the human spine is a complex yet versatile structure that provides support, protects the internal organs and nervous system, yet also allows incredible flexibility of movement.

The spinal cord and nerves of the back communicate between the brain and the rest of the body. The bones of the spine-or the vertebrae-protect the nerves. The vertebrae are separated by discs. The ligaments of the spine hold the vertebrae in place. Muscles attach to the vertebrae to provide stability and allow movement.

When everything in the spine is working together in harmony we do not even think about them. When one piece fails to work correctly, however, every other part is affected too. Chiropractic makes sure all of the parts work together the way they are supposed to after an accident in Utah.

Many injured people have gotten the benefits of chiropractic treatments for neck pain.

Extensive chiropractic treatments have shown great accident neck pain relief benefits after an accident in Utah using the following techniques.

  1. Mobilization is of benefit for patients with acute accident neck pain right after an   accident
  2. Manipulation is more effective than mobilization or physical therapy for some patients with sub-acute or chronic neck pain and all three treatments are probably superior to usual medical care
  3. Manipulation and/or mobilization may be beneficial for muscle tension headache.

Neck Pain and Chiropractic Treatments

Chiropractic treatments have been available for quite some time with plenty of time to show the relationship between whiplash and dysfunction. Plenty of satisfied patients have learned personally of the effectiveness of chiropractic treatments with chronic accident neck pain.

Long-term Outcome with or without Chiropractic Care

Fortunately, most people who suffer accident neck pain after a whiplash injury accident in Utah will experience lessened pain by six months. However, a percentage of people will continue to have pain if left untreated. Most patients who will recover completely will do so after three to four months, after which the rate of recovery slows down.

By two years, all patients will reach their individual maximum improvement from their accident in Utah injuries. About one fifth of injured people continue to have significant accident neck pain two years after the accident! Patients who did not get well often did not seek chiropractic care, were older, had pain which began sooner after the accident, and/or had their head rotated to either side at the time of impact. Patients who, before the accident, had a history of neck pain, arthritis of the neck, or headaches did not do as well either.
