Car accidents happen daily, even hourly throughout the world. Many of these accidents occur on roads we are all familiar with. One such road is I-15, which has been known to have many fatal accidents throughout the years. Some of the reported accidents range from multiple car collision, semi-truck blocking traffic flow, rollovers and motorcycle crashes. Sometimes we hear of fatal car crashes so much, that we don’t comprehend the weight of these incidences. Each accident has individuals involved. They had loved ones, they had hopes and dreams, and they had a future. With these individuals taken from our communities, it leaves a void in the work place, the family, the friends, and truly in the community as well.
So many of these accidents could be avoided by doing small things that we take for granted. Surely, if we were asked, “is text sent while driving worth a person’s life?” The answer would be a resounding “No!” Yet, that is not a question we ask ourselves while driving. And after repeated successfully sent texts, we become relaxed and comfortable. Becoming less and less aware of the treats it harvests. That is of course, until it’s someone’s life. Sometimes it’s your own life that is taken, other times it’s your friends and families, and other times it’s a stranger – yet to someone else, they may be their world.
Take the time to buckle up, to look around, to slow down, to check to your mirrors, turn on your blinker, stop at the stop sign, and be safe. Wherever you need to go, whatever text message you think you need to send, slow down long enough to realize there is no meeting, no communication you need to send that is worth endangering someone’s life. We each use the roads that take us to the places we want to go. Let’s show our gratitude for them, and for the vehicles we have that move us, and enable us to do more, by following these things. We each make a difference in our daily lives. Let’s resolve to make a difference on our roads.
