A rollover crash in Legacy Parkway is being blamed on drowsy driving. The driver in the crash was seriously injured and had to be flown to a hospital for treatment.
Utah Highway Patrol reported that a car driven by a teenager was traveling north along Legacy Parkway when it suddenly drifted left across the lanes and into the median. The teenager, a 17-year old, attempted to correct the vehicle, but overcompensated, instead, and rolled the car several times.
“It looks like we have some life-threatening injuries,” said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Nick Street.
An emergency helicopter was called in to fly the teenager to Intermountain Medical Center due to the severity of his injuries.
Investigators with Utah Highway Patrol are currently investigating the cause of the accident. The teenager was conscious enough after the crash to inform the emergency responders that he had fallen asleep while driving.
